The Great Locomotive Chase Tour - April 14, 2012
Trace
the route of the Great Locomotive Chase as it passed through the
Dalton-Whitfield County area. The tour will begin in the south of the
county, where The General was forced to cut short its resupply efforts
as the pursuing locomotive Texas approached. The tour will then make its
way north, passing through the oldest tunnel in the region at that
time; Tunnel Hill. The day will be complete with meals, exploration, and
narration from our on-site historian.

Spirit Walk - April 13, 14, 15
Walk
through West Hill Cemetery, the resting place of over four hundred
Civil War soldiers, and encounter the historic figures from that era.
The Dalton Little Theater brings the hugely successful Spirit Walk back
for its second year.

The Art of War - Winter to Summer 2012
This traveling exhibit makes its way from The National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Dalton, GA. The exhibit features the artwork of Civil War soldiers including drawings on hard tack (a simple cracker), bone carvings on a variety of surfaces, letters and sketches. The exhibit portrays the intensity, emotions and loneliness felt by many of the soldiers during a four year period.

Civil War Marker Dedications - April, May 2012
Three prominent marker dedications are scheduled for the spring:
- Mill Creek Gap, where Gen. Sherman assaulted Confederate defenses in May 18. Speaker: Dr. Richard McMurry
- Crow Valley, will dedicate the site where Sherman sent Federal forces to test Confederate defenses in May 1864. Speaker: Mr. Vince Dooley.
- Fort Hill, where Confederates forced the surrender of the 44th U.S. Colored Regiment in Oct. 1864. Speaker: Mr. Michael Thurmond.

Tunnel Hill Reenactment - September 8 - 9, 2012
